Bridges

Ben's class has been building bridges lately...with toothpicks.  Next week is rollercoasters with paper towel rolls.  Apparently the end of 4th grade is all about engineering and construction.

Which is awesome.

This morning the bridges were put to the test with pounds and pounds of sand.  It's fairly impressive what a bunch of small sticks and glue will hold.

Though, Ben didn't seem very confident.

His team's bridge held up pretty well...

...until it didn't and came crashing down.

One of the few school projects where the point is to destroy your creation.  It was really fun and the kids enjoyed the challenge.  The teacher did a great job of keeping the activity upbeat with a fun soundtrack (Baby Shark, anyone?) and encouraging the kids to cheer on other teams.  This has been a really great year for Ben and I am so glad that his teacher is ending it on such fun notes.
