Spring Break | Zoo

What to do with a 10yo when he's home all day and his brothers are away? A morning at the zoo seemed to be the obvious answer.

Isaac was especially interested as his class recently read The One and Only Ivan who was actually at our local zoo. We often take pictures with this statue, but this was a special time for him.

While we're there we took the opportunity do a selfie with some cherry blossoms.

Isaac's favorite animal (partially because the arctic fox was not there) was this walrus. He was in a very jolly and vocal mood making a wide variety of amusing noises and playing with the other walrus. His name is Balzac. I am going to tell you that is not what Isaac heard when the zoo volunteer said the name the first time. I'll let you figure out what he thought it was.

We took a break from the noisy walrus and visited the two aquariums. 

The zoo had a new exhibit based on conservation and included some genius interactive features. Isaac loved this exhibit and would have repeated it perhaps indefinitely if I had not dragged him away to eat lunch.

Having arrived early(ish) in the morning, we made it through the entire zoo, two aquariums, carousel, and lunch in time for it to start raining. One adventure down!
